Shops gutted in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, March 24: At least 20 shops and residential houses were gutted and properties worth crores of rupees were destroyed after a major fire broke out, here, at liapool market, on Friday morning.  The fire was controlled after an effort of around 3 hours by fire tenders of BCPL and Lahowal.  An electrical fault from a house behind the market area is suspected to have produced the spark. According to information, the fire from the house spread and destroyed the nearby shops which included a bakery, utensils shop, stationery shop, cloth store, electronic items shop, grocery store and other business establishments including a few residences.  A team of District Officials reached the spot and have initiated the initial process of monitoring the damage estimates.  No casualties have been reported, in the mishap.
