Short film 'Rahu' set to release

Silchar, Dec 4: Rahu, the second short film from the stable of PK Productions will have suspense, thrill and a bit of everything that a film lover expects from a film. The production team which received a lot of applause and appreciation for its debut short film ‘Rupkatha’ released in May, 2015, is all set to showcase its second creative piece which will be released on May, 2016. It was informed to the media-persons in a press-meet held in the premises of D N N K Girl Higher Secondary School by members of the production house on Thursday. Prab Seal, editor and producer of PK Productions, said renowned stage artists of Barak Valley have associated themselves with the short film ‘Rahu’ this time. After the release of ‘Rupkatha’ which created a lot of buzz among the movie lovers, particularly the youth, of the valley, this time the expectation of film aficiodos are huge. He further informed that the film will be shot across the valley. The total budget of the film is Rs.70,000. It will have a lot of stunts and action sequences. BFX and HD technology will be used to shoot the film.

 Soumen Bharatiya, maging director of Byatikram Masdo, who was present on the occasion, said that the production house is doing a fantastic job in encouraging the local artists to showcase their talents and explore their hitherto unknown potential. He expressed hope that PK Productions will attain higher heights in the future. Dopoti Paul, maging director of Bio-Med and advisor to the Production house, said that the team will continue to entertain the film lovers across the valley and beyond with their innovative story ideas. Kod Bhattacharjee, director of the short film, informed that 10 year old Pranjal Chakraborty who is a student of fifth standard of Don Bosco Silchar will play the title role of the protagonist of the film. He further informed that the storyline features a kid who is med as Rahul by his parents, but unfortutely his me appears as Rahu in his birth certificate. The word Rahu is usually associated with something evil and sinister. The director said that the people will certainly enjoy the thrill and suspense of the film.

 Kod also informed the media that a Facebook page titled ‘Rahu – short film’ has already been created. The teaser of the film along with related information about the movie was uploaded on the page. The film will have 3 songs and the full length of the film will be 80 minutes while Rupkotha was of 42 minutes. The songs will be recorded and mixed in Mumbai. Kolkata based singer Bodhaditya Mukharjee and Sanchita Bhattacharjee, the first female winner of SaReGaMaPa Little Champs, will sing one song each. Other members of PK Productions present in the meet included Man Roy, creative head and art director, Swarat Chakraborty, music director, Anirban Bhattacharjee, graphic designer and Debkamal Dutta, cinematographer, of the project.
