Shortage of stamp papers creates panic in gaon

From a correspondent

GAON (HAIBORGAON), Dec 29: Huge shortage of governmental stamp papers in gaon district allegedly provide big opportunity to some vendors of the district to open an open black market of stamp papers and as a consequence of it the people of the district allegedly had to buy the stamp papers at its double price than its origil price. According to some conscious people of the district, the stamp papers of Rs. 10 and Rs. 20 were completely out of market and the concerned Treasury Office unfortutely failed to supply the required stamp papers of Rs 10 and Rs 20 for which the people of the district instead of stamp papers of Rs 10 and Rs 20 were bound to buy stamp papers of Rs 50 and Rs 100 for last couple of months.

The sources here added further that the stamp papers of Rs 50 and Rs 100 would be also out of market within a couple of days as the storage of stamp papers of Rs 100 and Rs 50 in gaon Treasury Office would be finished within two or three days and hence it would affect the free flow of work in gaon Court as well as gaon Deputy Commissioner Office or other Circle Offices of the district.

In an interaction with this correspondent, the gaon Treasury Officer, Ancharuddin Talukdar, in connection with the issue, here said that it was not happening only in gaon district, but it was occurring in entire state due to delayed delivery of the concerned press where the stamp papers were printed. “A couple of months ago we directly demanded requisite stamp papers from Superintendent of Stamps and the office of the Superintendent of Stamp assured us to supply it only after December 27. Following that assurance our attendants have gone on Friday to the Office of Superintendent of Stamps in Guwahati to collect those stamp papers,” he further added.
