Showers throw normal life out of gear

 From our Special Correspondent

Silchar, Dec 11: Continuing rain spell for the last three days has thrown normal life out of gear in Barak Valley districts of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi. According to weather forecast by Regiol Meteorological Centre, heavy rainfall will lash South Assam and is likely to subside by next Thursday when it will be sunny and partially cloudy. There has been fall in temperature which now varies from the high of 23oC to low of 15oC. The roads continue to be comparatively less crowded. Movement of vehicular traffic is also on low scale. Business houses are feeling the crunch as the turn up of customers is on decline. It is also a tough time for students of schools and colleges who have to brave the showers to reach their institutions for the current examitions. The picture from the rural areas is also depressing as the standing paddy crops have been adversely affected by the untimely showers. Most hard hit are the daily wage earners for whom avenues of works or jobs have shrunk.
