Shrimat Swami Prabandaji Maharaj birth anniversary held

Dibrugarh, Jan 31: The four-day celebration of the 123rd birth anniversary of Shrimat Swami Prabandaji Maharaj, the founder of the philanthropic organization Bharat Sevashram Sangha as well as Hindu Milan Mandir, began amidst much fervour on Sunday.

To commemorate the Guru, a colourful procession was taken out by the organizing committee on Monday in which different religious organizations, gayan bayan, jhumur dancers and students participated. In an iugural function held in the evening to mark the occasion, the Prabanda Mab Seva Rat Award was conferred to noted litterateur and former president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Dr gen Saikia. As part of the observance, religious activities including am kirtan, jagya and prasad distribution were held on Wednesday. The last day of the celebrations, which is February 1, will witness events like open quiz competition and offering of tributes to martyrs.
