Shullai expresses concern over increasing house rent

SHILLONG, Oct 12: Sanbor Shullai NCP MLA from Laban Constituency while expressing concern over the increasing prices of house rent in the city said that the state government should intervene in the matter since it has affected a lot of people especially those coming from under privileged families. While speaking at a function at Lumparing recently Shullai said that even the central government has the Tency Act to establish a framework for the regulation of Residential Tency matters and to balance the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tents. “I feel there is a need for landlords to think about those people who comes from poor families, single mothers and orphans to see that they have a place to stay,” he said. He also urged the landlords to reduce the prices of rented house in order to help those people who really need a place to stay.
