Shun politics in me of religion'

Itagar, Oct 3: Aruchal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chow Mein and Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Monday participated in a mega Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) at Karsingsa to mark the 148th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Rijiju said the strength of Aruchal Pradesh lies in the unity in diversity. He called upon the people to work together for the common cause – peace, progress and development of the State.

“We should not allow cheap politics to weaken our strength and discourage playing politics in the me of community and religion,” he said, asserting he had been taking up the State’s cause in Parliament.

“We will leave no stone unturned at the Centre for the State’s interest,” he added, claiming no scheme proposed by the Aruchal government is pending with the Union government. He said opening of North East Police cells in every State capital to ensure the protection and safety of the North Eastern people studying and working elsewhere in the country was his initiative.

“The North East people working in Delhi police were very negligible before, but within the last two years, 433 NE youth were recruited in Delhi Police through direct recruitment,” Rijiju said.

He lauded the Pema Khandu government for its efforts to ensure rapid implementation of developmental works by conducting monthly review meeting with the ministers and departments, strict monitoring of the schemes implementation and the steps taken to check corruption in the State.

Responding to a 10-point memorandum submitted by the Organising Committee, Rijiju assured he would push for immediate sanctioning of the remaining package – B and C of four-lane work of NH-415 from Pappu-llah to Banderdewa within this fincial year. He also assured to look into construction of an indoor stadium cum multi-purpose community hall at Karsingsa, link road from NH-415 to Anya Colony-II and to initiate the process for setting up a fire station at Banderdewa Circle.

Mein appealed to the people to adopt the virtues of Mahatma Gandhi and follow the path of peace, truth and non-violence. He said that sweeping in the me of SBA should not remain symbolic but become a daily habit towards a clean India.
