Shylla reveals his intention to quit party

From A Reporter

SHILLONG, June 8: Veteran politician and present United Democratic Party (UDP) MDC from Nongkrem constituency HS Shylla on Thursday revealed his intention to quit the party and to contest the 2018 Assembly elections.

Shylla has further sought the resigtion of Dr Donkupar Roy as president of the party (UDP) with an aim to make way for veteran politician Dindo M Lanong or working president of the party Paul Lyngdoh.

The decision of Shylla came in wake of both the UDP and HSPDP understanding of having an alliance in the 2018 Assembly elections.

Addressing reporters Shylla said, “The pre-poll alliance of the two party was not taken with the understanding of the party but was done by the president alone and T. Chyne, in which other leaders such as Bindo, Dr Jemono and Paul did not have any knowledge.”

According to him, Dr Donkupar has agreed to what Basaiawmoit wants and that is for Mylliem, Mawkynrew, Sohryngkham and Nongkrem constituency to go in favour of HSPDP without thinking about the UDP MLA from Mawkynrew Remington Pyngrope.
