Itagar, September 13: Siang Indigenous Farmer’s Forum (SIFF), which has been opposing the proposed 3750 mega watt Siang Upper Stage-II Hydro-electric Project tooth and il, expressed their reluctance to allow even prelimiry survey and investigation for the project.

Attending a consultative meeting conducted by Upper Siang district administration with the PRI members and department concerned regarding the proposed enumeration of land owners and area of land likely to be affected by the proposed hydro power project on Saturday, the SIFF vehemently opposed the proposed enumeration fearing that once any prelimiry assessment is allowed and done the project will inevitably come up. Deputy Commissioner Remo Kamki advised the SIFF to re-consider their ultimatum for closure of NEEPCO office at Yingkiong and to refrain themselves from violent and unlawful activities against the power developer.

The Forum would be held responsible in case of any law and order problem which may arise out of the same, the DC cautioned, an official communiqué informed.
