Significance and importance of open education discussed

Dibrugarh, April 11:  A meeting of the study centre of the DHSK college affiliated to  KK Handique State Open University was held on Sunday  at the college premises .

The meeting was attended by the Principal, Vice-principal and Chief Coorditor of the college and the centre respectively. The Chief Coorditor of the centre, Dr Atique Uddin Ahmed, in his brief speech, recalled the history of the centre which was set up in 2008 and spoke elaborately about the significance and importance of open education. He called upon the students to be sincere while pursuing their education in an open university.

Principal of the college as well as the study centre, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, in his deliberation, emphasized that the students should build their career with the right human values instead of acquiring educatiol certificates only. Highly appreciating the KK Handique State Open University for helping students to continue their studies at any time of their career, Dr Saikia said that a large section of the society had already approved it for spreading quality education through open university. He cautioned the students that the authority would not hesitate to take punitive administration steps if the students were found absent in their respective classes by violating all norms.   Dr Saikia sought cooperation from all in order to maintain a conducive academic atmosphere in the centre. He reiterated the authority’s plan to start new academic courses once they get the approval of the centre from the university.

The Principal of the college also announced to construct an administrative building of the centre in the college campus.

The meeting resolved to organize an annual cultural meet at the centre and necessary steps would be taken to publish an annual magazine of the centre. Later, the students of the centre, in response to Dr Saikia’s appeal, assured to plant flowers in the college campus just after celebration of  Rongali Bihu festival.
