Namrup, July 12: As part of the programme of forming egg villages in different parts of Dibrugarh, the district administration and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department of Dibrugarh, in association with Samaj Kalyan Unnayan Samiti, formed an egg village at Baghmora village in Dibrugarh recently.
To mark the occasion, an awareness-cum-training programme was also conducted at the Baghmora Cultural Centre-cum-Library premises. In the programme, the need and significance of forming egg villages to ensure quality egg production and to make Dibrugarh self-reliant in egg production was primarily emphasized. Besides factors pertaining to egg production, building hen houses, egg farm management, and selection of breeds, vaccination, proper feeding and market avenues relating to egg production were also highlighted.
On the other hand, Laya Maduri, Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh, spoke on the significance and potential of egg production in economic empowerment and also added the health benefits of consuming eggs as a great source of nutrition. Resource persons, including Dr Ratna Bahadur Pradhan, Officer of District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Dr Himendu Bikash Baruah and others articulated several aspects of poultry farming along with egg production with suitable demonstration.
