Sigture campaign for Bharat Rat to Dalai Lama

From Our Correspondent
Tawang, April 8: A sigture campaign has been initiated by the Tawang district unit of Rashtriya Syawamsevak Sangh(RSS) for conferring Bharat Rat to Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama. The campaign was launched on April 6 last, a day before the Dalai Lama reached Tawang by road from Dirang in West Kameng district. There is also an online campaign going on too for conferring the highest civilian award to the Dalai Lama. “We have so far collected some 5,000 sigtures for our objective of seeing the Dalai Lama get Bharat Rat. We will submit our plea to Prime Minister rendra Modi after we collect 25,000 sigtures,” RSS leader Lhundup Chosang who is spearheading the campaign informed. Chosang said though Bharat Rat is not of the same stature as the Nobel Peace Prize that the Dalai Lama won in 1989, it will send the right message intertiolly. “Besides, the Dalai Lama deserves the Bharat Rat as he has said he is a son of India and feels honoured to be the longest-serving guest of this great country,” Chosang said. The Dalai Lama’s status as a Tibetan refugee should not be a factor for the award, local residents said.
