Silchar book fair postponed until next year

From our correspondent

Silchar, Dec 12: Inclement weather and continuous rain over the last few days have forced the organizers of Silchar book fair to postpone its date. Earlier, the 26th book fair was scheduled to take place at Bipin Chandra Paul ground from December 14 to December 25. “The present condition of the ground is in a very bad shape. It is muddy and there is no good system of water outlet,” this was stated by general secretary of the organizing committee Nihar Ranjan Paul at a press-meet held on Sunday. He said that all the book publishers have been informed about the rescheduling of the fair. Paul further said that the organizing committee would try to organize it in the month of January 2018. “NRC re-verification process is also going on. So it will not be a good idea to organize the fair now,” said Paul. Among others present at the press-meet included co presidents Mohua Choudhury and Haran Dey, advisor Swadesh Biswas, cashier Prab Roy Choudhury, and media convenor of Silchar book fair Bahar Uddin Choudhury.
