Silchar DSA appeal to TTFI to dissolve present body of ATTA

GUWAHATI, May 4: Silchar District Sports Association today appealed to the Table Tennis Federation of India to dissolve the present executive body of the Assam Table Tennis Association (ATTA) and arrange fresh Annual General Meeting to form a new body. According to them, the current body was constituted violating the constitution of the ATTA.

In a separate letter they also requested to the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal to appoint a retired High Court Judge or any other competent person to enquire the matter including the previous nine years term of the earlier committees and clean the affairs of ATTA.

Both the letter was written by the secretary of the Silchar District Sports Association Subimal Dhar.  In the letter to the TTFI, which was addressed to its Secretary General, Dhar alleged that Assam Table Tennis Association constituted its new executive committee meeting during its Annual General meeting, held recently in Guwahati, violating the norms of constitution.

“So on behalf of Silchar DSA I urge upon to dissolve the present body with immediate effect and take the control of ATTA to run its regular affairs with a neutral person. I would also appeal you to arrange fresh General Meeting with all affiliated districts of ATTA to form a new executive body with the mandate of the constitution.”

It may be mentioned here that earlier the representatives of three affiliated district units of ATTA, which included Silchar, Lakhimpur and Nazira, alleged that they were not allowed to attend the Annual General Meeting of the ATTA held recently in Guwahati and it was done without any valid reasons. They also alleged that the representative of Nagaon too deprived from attending the meeting.
