Silchar-Imphal transmission line completed

Guwahati, March 17: POWERGRID has ebled the State of Manipur to directly draw its share of power from Palata Power Plant by completing the 400 kV Silchar-Imphal Line.

POWERGRID has achieved yet another milestone by completing the Silchar-Imphal transmission line between Assam and Manipur, built on 400 kV specifications and to be operated initially at 132 kV voltage level. With the charging of the line on 15.03.2015, the State of Manipur will be able to draw its share of from Palata Gas Based Power Plant in Tripura directly through the tiol Grid and will have a solid electrical connectivity with rest of the country. The 167 Km long line passes through tough geographical area with deep valleys & steep hills (altitudes up to 1200 meters) imposing challenging working conditions and, this commendable feat could be achieved only with the unstinting support from the Government of Manipur, people of Manipur and Ministry of Power, Government of India. This is the 1st line with 400 kV specifications in the state of Manipur and with addition of this line the power scerio in the state shall improve significantly. By completing such a long line across difficult terrain, POWERGRID has yet again displayed its dedication towards the service of the tion & its people, a press release stated.
