Silchar in fil of CM cup

GUWAHATI, March 18: Silchar entered into the fil of the CM Cup soccer tourment defeating Tezpur in the second leg of second semi fil held at the Nehru stadium here today. Silchar booked the fil berth by winning the match via sudden death 7-6, 10-9 (aggregate).

Tezpur went into the ground staying ahead than Silchar as they won the first leg by 3-2 add needed just a draw today to move into the fil. On the other hand it was must win game for Silchar and that too atleast 2-0 margin if they wanted to earn a ticket for the fil.

After barren first half, Silchar performance level high in the second half and put enormous pressure on Tezpur defence. Tezpur filly succumb to the pressure thanks to a magnificent goal from Hamboy Linidoh. The match was around 79 minutes old when Hamboy got the ball on the left side of the box and he immediately float it towards Tezpur goal. Ball entered into the net without giving any chance to Tezpur goalkeeper Ashish Kondul and later  Silchar maged to hold the lead till the end to take the game to tie brake.

Earlier Tezpur lost an golden opportunity to score when Jyotish Basumatary’s centre nicely headed by Dipankar Musahari but ball returned hitting the bar.

In the tie brake  Sabil Hussain, Rahul Alom, Rengsasok Chiru and Ajosh Dalong scored while Dindayal’s shot was saved by goalkeeper Ashish. On the other hand Gobin Thakur, Suresh Saha, Jyotish Basumatari and Biru Mushahary converted the spot kicks but Dipankar Mushahary’s shot was nicely saved by Silchar goalkeeper Rupak Paul. In the sudden death Ramjaulien Chiru, Hamboy Linidoh and Kush Das were successful  for Silchar while Jyotish Basumatari and Pukon Boro too didn’t miss their shot. However  Avik Sangma’s shot, which was third one for Tezpur in the sudden death, returned hitting the left post that also confirmed  Tezpur exit from the meet. Ajosh Dalong of winning squad received the man of the match award. Silchar received cash incentive of Rs 48,000 for earning fil berth while Tezpur was richer by 32,000.the fil sdate of the meet will be announced later.
