Silchar NGO providing employment to jobless women

SILCHAR, Oct 17: Being employed for self dependency, especially for women, has become essential in the present times. In this regard, Sarbangin Ja Kalyan Samiti was taken a noble initiative to provide employment to women and unemployed persons. There are a number of ways for women to earn a livelihood instead of being dependent. They can take up the job of rearing of chickens, ducks, cows and goats. In addition, women and unemployed persons can also find adequate employment opportunities in incense manufacturing. They can make incense sticks and sell it off. The meeting in this regard was held at Rongpur Part 1 last Thursday.

It is now widely agreed to by all that employment of women is also necessary along with employment of men. Society and parents approve their employment, though some conservative sections of the society do not adhere to such ideas. To create better opportunities for women and unemployed persons, a proposal stating the modes of employment was also accepted and approved by the members of the Samiti.

They have also decided to contact and remain in touch with the Department of Agricultural Science of Aruchal Pradesh along with related departments of other places. The members will visit the departments and meet the officials for creating new avenues. Proper training will also be provided to them who are interested to do jobs. Among others who spoke at the meeting included, Nihar Kanti Roy, Priti Rani Chanda, Romola Singha, Zakaria Ahmed Barbhuiya, Rehema Begum and Noor Haque.
