Silchar to host NEROSA conference

SILCHAR, Feb 22: The 3-day North East Region Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Association (NEROSA) conference starting from February 26 at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) will discuss various related problems. The conference will have well known tiol faculties addressing the participants. The well thought scientific programmes, paper presentation and workshops will provide an excellent update covering number of trauma and orthopaedic topics. Dr. Rajdeep Roy, chief spokesperson, briefed media-persons all about the conference in the conference hall of SMCH today.

More than 200 members of NEROSA and practicing orthopaedic surgeons of the region are expected to attend the 29th annual conference. Dr. Rajdeep Roy added to say the well known tiol faculties will address the participants. The pre conference workshop organized on foot and ankle surgery will be conducted by eminent surgeons in the subjects. A special post graduate teaching session with well known tiol faculties is being arranged for post graduate students.

Dr. Roy pointed out the conference is designed to deal with all aspects of complex trauma and infection in day to day orthodaedic practice. He explained the highlight of the conference is “More of academics and entertainment, entertainment and entertainment”. The first day conference covering the workshop on foot and ankle will touch on calcaneus fracture, talus fracture, lisfrane injury as well as symposium on foot and ankle disorders.

The theme of the second day conference ‘complex trauma and infection’ will have guest lectures, oration, post graduate competition papers and free paper presentation. The concluding day will have guest lectures and free paper presentation as well as meet the masters. The guest lectures will be delivered by surgeons with life time achievements. According to Dr. Rajdeep Roy, the cases related to orthopaedic problems have increased immensely in the last two decades.

This he attributed to the ongoing modernization and a life of hurry, scurry and flurry accompanied by tension. Besides, there is now high level of injuries sustained by human beings indoor and outdoor. The frequency of such injuries, often fatal, has gone up. He pointed out there is wide disparity in the ratio of patients and orthopaedicians in north east. Renowned faculties from all over the country will make the workshops and discussions lively and informative, Dr. Rajdeep Roy said.

Among the tiol faculties attending the conference are Dr. Mandeep S. Dhillon, Dr. John Mukhapadhay, Dr. Jagadish Gudaru, Dr. Sishir Radtogi, Dr. Rajiv Shah, Dr. Vikas Agashe, Dr. Anil Dhal and Dr. Sampat Dumbre Patil. With the presence of these eminent faculty members, as Dr. Rajdeep Roy said new developments in the field and other complicated issues will come under the ambit of discussions. It is expected this will help in settling the new developments. Dr. Arup Kumar Daolagupu, organizing chairman, Dr. Vikash Agarwal, organizing secretary, and Dr. S K ndi Purkayastha, chief patron, of NEROSA, have sought the help and cooperation of all concern to make the conference a success which will be mutually beneficial in terms of knowledge and skill.
