Silchar, Oct 1: Preparations of pandals and idols are going on in full swing for the ensuing Durga Puja which is the most awaited festival for the Hindus across Barak Valley. Various committees are trying their best to amaze people with their innovative decorations and design. Like every year, members of the All Medical Sales People's Durga Puja Committee hasdecided to create something out of the box. This year they have decided to do everything in an eco-friendly way in order to spread awareness among the people that tural things are best in comparison with  chemicals and plastics.

This year the Committee has based their theme of creation on 'go green' and is completely eco-friendly. The most striking feature of their Puja is its innovative themes, designs and decorations. The idol of Goddess Durga will be crafted using more than 20 kinds of seeds. The idol will be based on Kerala and South India's one of the most celebrated dance forms, Kalari. The painstaking task of decorating the unique idol has been taken up by a group of talented students of the Department of Fine Arts, Assam University.

Seeds of ink nuts, cloves, cowpeas, broad beans, ladies finger and other vegetables will be used in crafting the idol of Goddess Durga. It comes to no surprise for the devotees that the Committee would thrill them with their acumen as they have been doing so since the formation of the Committee in the year 2009. Around 1 quintal of seeds will be used. The pandal has been designed on a Lord Shiva's mandir. The members of the Committee which comprises Amit Hore president and Arup Goswami general secretary are hopeful that like every year, this year too, their Puja will be able to hold people's attention.

The idol of the Goddess Durga will be not made of plaster of paris and other toxic chemicals which are usually. The budget of this year's Puja is around Rs.7 lakhs. It should be noted that they did not go door to door for collecting funds. They have informed that this year they are going to arrange for a free heath check-up also.
