Silence of Modi, Mulayam on lynching unfortute'

Lucknow, October 5: The Congress on Monday accused the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh and the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of turning a blind eye to the plight of minorities.

The silence of both Prime Minister rendra Modi and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on the Dadri incident, where a Muslim man was lynched following rumours that he ate beef, was a testimony of their stand on the issue, Congress’ state spokesman S.P. Srivastava said. “It is not a coincidence that both leaders are quiet on such a burning issue. The fact is that both are hand in glove when it comes to fanning commul passions for political mileage,” he said. Terming the incident “unfortute” and a “blot on the secular fabric of the country”, the Congress leader said elements like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and leaders like Azam Khan were out to gain political currency from the incident.  (IANS)
