Silent candle march

Silchar, March 23: The central committee of Youth Against Social Evils (YASE) organized a silent candle march protesting the brutal sexual assault and killing of a Bru girl Giniram Riang (14) at her residence located in Betcherra in south Hailakandi on March 14. A large number of organizations have hit the streets to express their sense of shock, anger and agony. YASE started their march from Khudiram Bose statue point at Club road in Silchar on Thursday. They moved across the streets till Premtala point, Silchar, before converging at the starting point. Members of Lions Club of Silchar, Lioness Club of Silchar, Government Girls Alumni Association, Asha Mahila Samiti, Chai Jajati Mahila Unyan Sangstha, Mangaldeep SHG and others along with the prominent persons and social workers of this town took an active part in the march.
