Silver jubilee celebration of Baska Press Club concludes

LBARI, January 25: The silver jubilee celebration of Baska Press Club at Barama was held at Barama with a two-day colourful programme recently.

The programme on the occasion included flag-hoisting , tree plantation ,lighting of the lamp, smriti tarpan, kabi sanmilan  and singing competition. The cultural procession brought out on the occasion was iugurated by Rajat Choudhury, distinguished social worker.

The open session was held under the president ship of Dilip Kumar Haloi, adviser of Baska Press Club, Barama while Bharat Rajbongshi,general secretary, explained the objective of the meeting.

Ramesh Chandra Das, chairman of the silver jubilee celebration committee, while iugurating the open meeting, said that the role of media was very important in the society. He mentioned some examples to highlight the power of media.

Jourlist Prakash Mahanta said that jourlists should remain impartial in order to maintain peace and harmony in the society.  He added that the history of jourlism in Assam started with the birth of  Arunoday  published by the Baptist missiory in Sivasagar in 1846.

Dilip Chandan, editor of Asom Bani, said that print news was more reliable than breaking news.  He called upon all jourlists to work with dedication and devotion for the betterment and growth of the society.

Khagen Kalita called upon the new generation to be involved in jourlism. Ganesh Tamuli, the chief adviser of Silpi Sahitik Surakha Mancha, Assam released the souvenir.

Baksa Deputy Commissioner Mahadanda Hazarika , Keshab Kalita, Anjan Sarma, Alkas Ali, Dhaneswar  Huzuri, Maheswar Barman and other persolities were present.
