Silver jubilee celebration of Udalguri Bathou Mahasabha concludes

UDALGURI, February 9: The silver jubilee celebration of All Bathou Mahasabha, Udalguri district committee concluded here at Harisinga Mantikiri Saishree ground with a message to develop spirituality in the society.

The four day-long celebration was begun with the opening of Bathou alter by Deven Boro on February 6.  The Bathou leaders assembled from various parts of the district and also from West Bengal and Dimapur. They discussed the spirituality of Bathou. During this celebration an exhibition of their Bathou tradition was also displayed and this was the main attraction for the people of the region.

A cultural troupe from Bhutan was also present on the occasion. The Bhutanese team led by rbu Wangdi, the general secretary of Indo-Bhutan Friendship Association, presented several cultural dances of the Himalayan kingdom. The open session, which was presided over by Budaola Daimari, the president of Udalguri district Bathou Mahasabha, was opened by Suresh Chandra Isorari, the Bathou leader from West Bengal. Satish Ramciary, former general secretary of All Bathou Mahasabha, said that spirituality had great importance in the present society.  Without spirituality, the society cannot survive for long, he emphasized.

A souvenir titled Sashree Bidang was released.  Thousands of people gathered at the Saishree ground and expressed their deep faith in Bathou tradition.  Various dignitaries also attended the open session here on Tuesday.

Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimari, MLA Rihon Daimari, BTC Speaker Tridip Daimari, Dhiren Boro, NDFB(P) chairman, Ranjan Daimari,  NDFB (R ) chairman among others were also present on that occasion.
