Silver jubilee of socio-cualtural centre gets underway

Bongaigaon, Nov 4: The silver jubilee year celebration of Priya Gupta Memorial Socio-Cultural Centre started fromSaturday with a two-day long programme. 
 Mriganka Sekhar Choudhury, secretary of the reception committee, said that the programme started with flag hoisting by Ashish Biswas, Assam State secretary of Hind Mazdoor Sabha, which was followed by tribute paying before the portrait of Priya Gupta by Rakhal Das Gupta, president of All India Railwaymen’s Federation.
 “Rabilesh Kumar, Divisiol Railway Mager of Rangiya Division, attended the programme and  iugurated the newly-constructed gate of the Priya Gupta Memorial Hall. He also flagged off a colorful procession to create awareness about the tural and social environment. Dr Prab Kumar Dhar, reception committee president, iugurated the art exhibition. A souvenir Creation was iugurated by Mukunda Sarma, retired Principal of Birjhora H S School. A karate show was also iugurated by R B Rai Sarma, retired Vice-Principal of Bongaigaon College,” he said.
 Addressing the gathering, Rakhal Das Gupta said that Priya Gupta was a leader of the labour class people who dedicated his life for the rights of common people. “This centre had been formed to serve the society,” he said. 
“Tomorrow several competitions among the students will be held. A multilingual poets’ meet will held here which will be conducted by renowned poet Qazi Swamim where several renowned poets will attend. In the open session, several noted persons, including Ramani Baraman, former Education Minister, Rakhal Das Gupta, Biswajit Pegu, Deputy Commissioner of Bongiagaon, and many others will be present,” Mrigangka Sekhar Choudhury said.
