Simmons replaces Fletcher

New Delhi, March 29: The Intertiol Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday confirmed the approval of Lendl Simmons as a replacement for the injured Andre Fletcher in the West Indies squad for the ongoing World T20 tourment. Fletcher pulled a right hamstring during the match against Afghanistan in gpur on Sunday and has been ruled out of further participation in the tourment, an ICC statement said.

The 31-year-old Simmons has represented the West Indies in eight Tests, 68 One-Days and 34 T20 Intertiols. In the shortest version of the game, he has scored 761 runs at a strike-rate of just under 114.

Simmons was a member of the West Indies side which won the World Twenty20 in 2012 and played his last T20I against South Africa in Durban in January 2015. IANS
