Singapore Airlines bans hoverboards on all flights

Singapore, Dec 21: Singapore Airlines (SIA) on Monday banned hoverboards, or self-balancing electric scooters, on all its flights for safety reasons, the company said in a statement. According to the new regulation, passengers are not allowed to carry hoverboards either in carry-on or checked-in luggage, Xinhua news agency reported. Passengers are also not allowed to carry or check in any lithium batteries with watt hours more than 160 or a lithium content of more than 8 grams, which includes electric segways and electric bicycles. Budget airline Tiger Airways, which is a SIA subsidiary, also followed suit. SIA and Tiger Airways are not the first to ban such equipment. (IANS)
