SIT has not failed: Police

SHILLONG, July 21: Meghalaya police on Tuesday reiterated that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of officer-in-charge of Patharkhmah police outpost PJ Marbaniang has not failed but is on the verge of completion pending a forensic science laboratory (FSL) report.

“The SIT has not failed since we are only waiting for the forensic science laboratory (FSL) report from Hyderabad and until we get that report nothing can be disclosed,” SP (City) Vivek Syiem told media person here.

Syiem informed that earlier they had moved to Court so that proper directions will be given to the forensic science laboratory (FSL) Hyderabad to immediately speed up the findings report and to submit it at the earliest.

Without disclosing much information Syiem said, “There is a constant flow of development in the case and nothing can be disclose until we get the FSL report.”

It may be recalled that PJMarbaniang, the officer-in-charge of Patharkhmah outpost in Ri Bhoi district was found mysteriously shot inside his official quarter in Patharkhmah on January 24, a day after detaining 32 coal-laden trucks plying illegally on the Patharkhmah route.
