KOKRAJHAR, September 5: The All BTC Contractual TET Teachers' Association on Monday staged a five-hour dhar at Raasmela field in Kokrajhar in support of their demands.

The members of the association carrying banners, placards staged sit-in demanding regularization of their posts, release of arrear payment of 15 months, equal remuneration and privileges with the TET teachers appointed under Sarba Siksha Abhijan (SSA) and regularization of posts and automatically extension of period of service.

Pulindra Barman, president of the association, said the BTC Education department had appointed over 3,311 TET qualified candidates into Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) Schools in the four BTC districts on February10, 2015 on contractual basis for six months (which has been extended), but in the last 18 months they are paid salary of only three months. "Moreover, the BTC education authority has not taken any measure for the regularization of the posts," he said.

The association leader said that the TET qualified teachers under SSA were getting Rs 17,000 per month as salary but they receive monthly remuneration to the tune of only Rs 8,000 per month despite having been qualified through the same examition and working in the same post.
