Situation normal in Sivasagar, Lakhimpur

Sivasagar/Joysagar, Jan 1: The phase I draft NRC was published in Sivasagar and Charaidew district on the midnight of December 31. In Sivasagar district there had been total 6.38 lakh applicants and total 95 per cent mes of the applicants appeared in the phase-I draft while only 5 per cent mes are still under scanner and such mes will publish in phase-II, revealed the district authority on Monday.

 About 22 per cent citizens in urban area and only 11 per cent citizens in rural area went to the NRC service centres to check their mes. A large number of citizens verified their mes through mobile app provided by the NRC authority. After publication of the draft NRC, security measures were beefed up by the administration. But the overall situation is normal. In the both districts, the administration set up total 77 NRC service centres where citizens can verify their mes and also file any complain, rectification plea, if any, during office time till January 30 of this year, sources revealed. 

Lakhimpur: The Part Draft of updated NRC was published in Lakhimpur at 73 NSKs. Out of 11,00,128 applicants, a total of 8,25,048 genuine Indian citizens of the district were enrolled in the Part Draft NRC. The Revenue Circle(RC) wise distribution of this figure are- 2,01,614 in Lakhimpur RC; 1,19,330 in Bihpuriya RC; 1,14,827 in Dhakuakho RC; 91,877 in Kadam RC; 84,739 in Nowboicha RC;1,35,853 in rayanpur RC and 76,808 in Subansiri RC. A total of 2,75,080 citizens of district were not included in the part draft. The percentage of the NRC enrollment in the district is 74.99.

The citizens of the district thronged at the respective NSKs to check their mes in the draft making queue peacefully from 8am to 4pm on Monday. The district administration arranged tokens for maging the gatherings at the NSKs. Though the gathering in the NSks were seen thicker in the first half of the day, it became thinner in the afternoon.  Lakhimpur DC Barun Bhuyan and NRC in charge, ADC Bipul Kumar Das thanked all concerned for the effective publication of the Draft NRC and district people for their peaceful co-operation during the post NRC publication period.
