Situation Turns Violent in Kokrajhar after villagers attack Police Personnel

Kokrajhar: A major clash broke out among a section of people and police personnel in Musaljhura village under Kajigaon Police Station in Kokrajhar on Wednesday leaving four police personnel injured.

As per reports, out of the four police personnel, two received severe injuries during the clash and were rushed to RNB Civil Hospital in Kokrajhar town in critical condition.

It may be mentioned that on Wednesday night, the people at Musaljhura village had caught one alleged cattle-thief identified as one Enamul Hoque and tied him up. On the other hand, a section of people was reportedly beating him to black and blue today morning. Following the incident, police had rushed to spot in order to bring down the situation under control.

However, the situation turned violent after a section of angry villagers started pelting stones at police personnel.

Meanwhile, police personnel blank fired 16-rounds of bullets in the air leading to the scuffle.

The injured police personnel was identified as Gaurishankar Das (60), Ujjawal Saikia (31), Jyotish Chandra Rai (32), Tapan Biswas (28).

It may further be mentioned that the cattle-thief have been arrested from the spot.
