Sivasagar administration focuses on 'clean and green' Dipawali

JOYSAGAR, Oct 17: Sivasagar district administration is focusing on Clean and Green Dipawali this year. The administration has also taking measures to reduce air, sound, soil and water pollution. Many social organizations have come forward to create consciousness about traditiol festivity and to urge people not to use goods which will spread pollution. Besides, the administration has issued a ban on selling-purchase of Chinese goods, decoration lamps and fire crackers.

The local artists and traditiol workers are busy in making and selling earthen lamps and other items used in the festival. For safety, the district administration has also issued some restrictions on sale of various fire crackers. Lottery or lucky draw vendors are allowed to sell their tickets for three days only in Sivasagar Boarding Field. Hundreds of social organizations of Sivasagar organize lucky draw every year during Dipawali but this time they have been allowed only a specific place by the Sivasagar administration. Arrangements have been made to hold Sri Sri Kali Puja and Dipawali in more than 22 places in Sivasagar town, including the 225-year old Sri Sri Kali Bari Kali Dham of Sivasagar town.
