Sivasagar administration focuses on protection of women

JOYSAGAR, March 7:  Sivasagar district administration has sought advice from various social groups along with women organizations for protection of women in the district.  A special meeting was held in this regard at Sukafa Hall of DC’s office, Sivasagar on Monday under the chairmanship of Sivasagar DC rayan Konwar. In his opening speech, Konwar said that various atrocities and crime against women had increased throughout the country and it had now become a subject of great concern. Therefore, social groups and women organizations should come forward to find peaceful and permanent solution of this social problem.

Attended by representatives of many women organizations and also by the Sivasagar District Women Protection Cell officials, the participants in their speech brought forward valuable advice to the district authorities. Among them, noted social worker Dipali Chutia, Mamoni Saikia, DIPRO Sadori Gogoi and social welfare officer Dibya Deori also gave valuable suggestions.  The meeting took resolutions for immediate improvement and modernization of Sivasagar PS’s women cell and to mobilize more patrolling police parties throughout the town to protect women and girl students of various schools, colleges and hostels of the town. Another resolution focused to held meetings in remote areas of the district to create awareness among the rural women about their constitutiol rights.
