Sivasagar all set for counting

SIVASAGAR, May 18: The Sivasagar district administration is all prepared for peaceful counting of votes scheduled on May 19 for four constituencies in the district, besides security being tightened for peaceful counting.

There are three constituencies in Sivasagar subdivision i.e-103-Amguri, 107-Thowra and 108-Sivasagar, and another 104-zira in zira subdivision. The counting of votes for the three constituencies of Sivasagar subdivision will be held at Sivasagar Govt. HS and MP School located at Boarding Road, while the counting for 104-zira constituency will be held at zira sub-divisiol office.

In this regard, a counting preparation press meet was held at Sukapha Hall of Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Tuesday evening with a view to apprise the media persons about the counting process of assembly election. The meet was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal, where Superintendent of Police, Sivasagar, And Prakash Tiwari, District Development Commissioner Abhijit Baruah, ADC PR Gharphalia and election officer Aswini Doley were also present.

Mittal said that adequate security arrangement included three-tier security deployment had been made to thwart any untoward incidents during the counting day at Sivasagar Govt. HS and MP School for a free and fair counting.

The Deputy Commissioner further informed that counting personnel and counting agents had already been trained for counting process and apart from on-duty officers, staff, police, jourlists with authority letter, candidates and counting agents, no one would be allowed to enter the counting centre, he added.

Meanwhile, a ban has been imposed by the district administration on taking out procession by any political party candidate till May 20.
