Sivasagar Bar Association holds State-level semir

Joysagar, July 7: Sivasagar Bar Association held a State-level semir on the topic ‘Details regarding ejahar, Complaint and Right of Persons after Arrest’ in the Bar Association office on Thursday. This semir was held to mark the golden jubilee celebration of the Sivasagar Bar. The programme was hosted by the vice-president of Sivasagar Bar Association, Luhit Prakash Dutta. Advocate General of Assam and also the chairperson of the Bar Council of Assam, Chinmay Chaudhari took part in the semir as chief resource person while Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, Ujjwal Bhuyan took part in the semir as chief speaker. Besides, senior advocate of Gauhati High Court, Gajand Sahewala, Sivasagar District and Sessions Judge Sunil Kr. Puddar also delivered their valuable speech on the occasion.

The State-level semir was organized by the Sivasagar Bar Association in association with the Bar Council of Assam, galand, Mizoram, Aruchal Pradesh and Sikkim. Before the semir, two of the seniormost advocates of Sivasagar Bar who had successfully completed 50 years in legal services were felicitated. They are Ajit Kr. Borpujari and Khadim Jahan.

Advocate General of Assam, Chinmay Chaudhari in his speech focused on legal virtues and ethics which every advocate should keep in mind while practising law. Chief Justice Ujjwal Bhuyan said in his speech that law which was meant in the colonial era was quite different in independent India and it was undergoing changes in the contemporary post-modern world. A dedicated and truthful advocate should hold a conscious mind for every subject and he also should have a tural tendency to help the needy so that people could keep faith in the law.
