Sivasagar celebrates World Tourism Day

SIVASAGAR, September 28: Along with rest of the world, Sivasagar too celebrated the World Tourism Day on Sunday. The Tourism Department, in association with Sivasagar District Administration, celebrated the day by organizing cleanliness drives and awareness rallies at important tourist spots and places of importance including Talatal Ghar, Panidehing Bird Sanctuary, Charaideo Maidams and Desangmukh that witnessed participation from a large number of people. Addressing a gathering at the historic Talatal Ghar premises, District Tourist and Information Officer Bidyav Bora said, “This year’s celebration focused on potential of tourism for socio-economic development by preserving and beautifying the historical monuments of Sivasagar.” Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal, Gautam Hira of Sivasagar Tourist Guide Association and other officials of civil administration were present on the occasion. Later in the day, DC Mittal also iugurated the new Tourist House.
