Sivasagar DC selected for CM's Special award

SIVASAGAR, Feb 26: Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar Virendra Mittal has been selected for Chief Minister’s Special Award in Public Administration. The prestigious award will be conferred on February 29 in a function at Administrative Authority Bhawan at 11 am. It is during the one and half year’s tenure of Mittal that Lakwa Development Block in Sivasagar district became the first block in Assam to be declared ‘Open Defecation Free’ (ODF). Earlier, in this month the DC was awarded with Coolest Northeasterner-2015 by a popular magazine The Thumb Print, published from Guwahati, where he was described as a ‘Swachata Doot’ for working relentlessly to make the Sivasagar district open-defecation free.
