Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner asks political parties to adhere to MCC guidelines

SIVASAGAR: Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lakshmanan S convened a meeting with the representatives of various political parties regarding adherence of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) guidelines and their concerns related to upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The DC informed that the Model Code of Conduct had come into force and asked the leaders and representatives of the political parties to follow its guidelines. No violation of MCC will be allowed at any stage of election process, he affirmed. No party or candidate will indulge in any activity which may create communal hatred or cause tension between different castes and communities, religious or linguistic, the DC said.

He also informed about the Suvidha App, which would facilitate in applying, processing and granting of permissions related to campaigning. He also sought co-operation from the political parties to uphold the glorious tradition of peaceful polls in the district by participating in a non-violent manner. Sivasagar Superintendent of Police Amitava Sinha urged all to act responsibly when using social media so that no any kind of hatred could be spread in the society. The meeting was attended by ADC Moon Gogoi, Election Officer Jagadish Brahma, Assistant Commissioners and other officers and representatives of several political parties.
