Joysagar: The Sivasagar District Sangrami Yuba Chatra Parishad members expressed resentment over the recent hike in fares of commercial vehicles in Sivasagar district.

The organization alleged that commercial vehicle owners were always trying to dupe passengers and although fuel prices had decreased recently, the fares of vehicles had not decreased. The organization sought the intervention of the Sivasagar DC as well as the Sivasagar DTO in this matter.

Meanwhile, the Sivasagar District Consumers Right Organization also urged the administration to take necessary steps so that passengers could travel at reasonable fares. The Sivasagar Consumers Right Organization also drew the attention of the administration towards the unnatural hike in the price of onion. While in many States, the price of onion has come down to even Rs 1 or Rs 2 per kg, in Assam the price of onion is Rs 24 to Rs 26 per kg.
