Sivasagar DTO collects 0.76% more revenue than target

JOYSAGAR, April 1: Sivasagar District Transport Department has been able to increase revenue collection against the target which was laid by the State Government.
 In the 2016-2017 fincial year, Sivasagar DTO collected a total 0.76 pc more revenue than the target fixed by the State Government. The State Transport Department fixed a total of Rs 29,95,00,000 to be collected in this fiscal year. But the District Transport Department was able to collect a total of Rs. 30,17,55,760 which is 0.76 per cent more than the target fixed by the government.
 In the 2015-2016 fiscal year, the State Transport Department had fixed a total of Rs. 27,00,00,000 to collect as revenue and the district authorities were able to collect only Rs. 23,90,00,000 which was a deficit of Rs. 3,10,000. The District Transport Department sources also revealed that in this fiscal year, a total of 1,944 driving licenses were issued by the department and a total of 15,043 vehicles were formally registered in Sivasagar district. In this year, 2,230 cases were registered against various vehicle owners for violating government transport rules and Rs. 80,81,274 was collected as fine from these law breakers, sources revealed.
