Sivasagar Excise raids in Gelakey town

JOYSAGAR: Sivasagar District Excise Department, with help of the Nazira subdivisional Excise department, and Assam Police battalion raided many places of Gelakey town on Tuesday night against illegal liquor sellers in and around Gelakey Tea Estate, Mechipur, Chakimukh, Naginijan and Bihubar.

The excise sleuths busted many liquor dens and arrested about six illegal liquor sellers. During the operation about 320 litres of CMFL, 590 litres of country liquor and large quantity of narcotic items were also recovered. Eight cases under the Assam Excise Law have been registered in Gelakey PS.
