Joysagar, May 7: Sivasagar District Labour Department will conduct a massive operation against those who are forcefully keeping child labourers. Sivasagar Additiol Commissioner of Labour stated before media persons that many social organizations had lodged various complains regarding the sensitive issue and the number of such child labourers was increasing in Sivasagar district.
Due to poverty and other domestic problems, many children of the district, especially children of tea garden workers, have to work in various households as domestic help and also in various hotels, restaurants and garages. Following public complaint and also the Supreme Court’s directives, the District Labour Office will soon launch operation throughout the district and will further take necessary steps to provide free education and health services to children engaged as child labourers so that the human resource of such poverty-stricken children could find a proper way to build themselves into good and responsible citizens.
