Sivasagar Municipal Board announces welfare projects

Joysagar, March 14: The Sivasagar Municipal Board has announced many welfare projects which are to be implemented in this fiscal year. The SMB chairperson held a press meet in the office premises of the board on Tuesday and said that the SMB had been sanctioned an amount of Rs 100 crore in the State budget under the head CIDF. From this fund, the SMB authorities will implement the construction works of the draige system of Sivasagar. Besides, in repairing the water supply system, SMB will spend Rs 12 lakh. Moreover, SMB will spend fund to mage the artificial flood problem of the town and for maintence and construction of scientific garbage disposal in Darikapar, SMB will implement a project amounting about Rs 4 crore.

For various development projects in all the 14 wards under SMB, fund will be spent. The SMB authorities will also focus on settlement of the monthly payment problem of the employees and workers of the board. The SMB chairperson also said that the State Government had allotted about Rs. 2.61 crore to release payment to the employees which was not disbursed on time due to shortage of fund of the SMB and the authorities would take measures from this month to regularize the monthly payment to the workers.
