Sivasagar Municipal Board workers go on strike

JOYSAGAR, Feb 9: The workers of Sivasagar Municipal Board went on indefinite strike from Wednesday. This sudden strike has caused a lot of inconvenience to the local body authorities as the Axam Xahitya Xabha’s special centery session is under way in Sivasagar. The historic town has become dirty with garbage and waste materials duped on the roadside.  The workers have demanded that they should be enrolled as permanent State Government employees and they should get pension after retirement. Besides, they also demanded prompt release of their salary which is pending since 16 months.
