Sivasagar Nehru Yuba Kendra observes Swachhta Fortnight

Dibrugarh, Aug 20: In association with the celebration of Swachhta Fortnight, the Sivasagar Nehru Yuba Kendra (NYK) has implemented various programmes in each of the development blocks of the district, a press release issued here by NYK stated.

 Apart from the Sivasagar office of NYK, oath on Swachhta was taken and administered at  Yuva Sanghas situated in various parts and schools. Under the aegis of NYK and various Yuva Sanghas of the district and in collaboration with Mahila Samiti, a safai abhijan was carried out in the village areas. House-to-house visit was organized to educate every village household on Swachchta and awareness was generated among the public on various schemes related to cleanliness.  Likewise, cleanliness drive was carried out at Sivasagar Railway Station, bus stand, public market house, bridge premises and at various other public places.

Apart from the sub-health centre, school building and premise of the district, Joktoli Water Resource Scheme and the surroundings were cleaned by the Kendra volunteers and officials.  By assembling the school students for creating awareness, a rally was taken out. On Independence Day, under the initiative of NYK and volunteers Bidisha Dutta and Akash th, saplings were planted at Nemuguri, and quiz and painting competitions were also organized among the students. The quiz competition was iugurated by the Headmaster of Borbam Middle English School, Tupidhor Gogoi and the quiz was conducted by Rajesh th from NYK.
