Sivasagar Prepared for Final Draft of National Register of Citizens Publication

SIVASAGAR, July 26: To deal with any emergency situation that may arise during and after the publication of the final draft of NRC in the district, the Sivasagar district administration held a meeting with the Superintendent of Police, Sivasagar, ADCs, Circle Officers, OCs of different PSs of the district and LRCRs of NSKs on Wednesday.

Chairing the meeting held at Sukafa Conference Hall in the DC’s office, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha informed that the NRC update process in the district was going on smoothly under the guidance of the Supreme Court of India and the district administration was working sincerely to make the final draft publication of NRC a grand success in the district.

He also appealed to people not to panic if their names were not included in the draft as they would be given opportunity to register their claims and objections. He urged the LRCRs to make all concerned aware as to how to register claims and objections.

Attending the meeting, Sivasagar Superintendent of Police Subodh Sonowal said that they were keeping close vigil on the anti-social elements and trouble-mongers in order to maintain peace and communal harmony in the district. He appealed to the public not to be misled by rumours and misinformation campaign by certain elements.
