Sivasagar Revenue Circle Officer visits flood-hit areas

Joysagar, May 27: The Sivasagar Revenue Circle Officer, Shamprettee Goswami, along with other officials of Flood Control Cell and the District Public Health Department, visited many flood-hit areas of Sivasagar district under Dikhowmukh Revenue Circle on Friday.

Large areas had been hit by devastating flood last year and it has been alleged that about 25 families were livingĀ  in the embankment of the Dikhow River since then. It was also alleged that about 40 families had become landless due to heavy erosion of the Dikhow and they have been living in the roadside and on the Dikhow embankments for the last five years. The flood waters of Dikhow and Desang had submerged areas like Dikhowmukh, Krishchiga, Dewgharia, Raghubari, Shantipur, Bharalua and many other revenue villages of the area.

The Sivasagar Revenue Circle Office has been taking an initiative for these villagers to rehabilitate them by taking up various State Government schemes and SDO, Sivasagar also visited the whole area and interacted with the villagers and took an account of their losses.
