From a Correspondent

Rangia, Nov 24: Six children between 8 to 15 years of age were rescued from Rangia  bi-weekly market by a team of Kamrup Childline on Thursday.

The team was headed by Utpal Borah, Biplab Mazumder and Meghjyoti Hazarika from Majgaon (North Guwahati) office of the Childline. According to Utpal Borah, the children were picked up with the help of Rangia Police on the basis of specific information that they were working as child labourers in different stalls of the market. Some of them had been selling leaves and vegetables since a couple of months. After checking and enquiry, the child labourers were picked up and sent to a children’s home at Ulubari, Guwahati.

They will be produced before the CWC (Child Welfare Commission) at Amingaon on Friday. Their guardians will be allowed to take them after producing  proper documents of school, said Borah.
