Six ethnic groups form Jatiya Maha Sanmilan

TINSUKIA, Aug 12: Six ethnic groups of Assam, who demanded schedule tribe status, formed a new forum here on Tuesday. The ethnic groups -Moran, Matak, Tai Ahom, Tea Tribes , Chutiya and Koch Rajbongshi formed the organization— Jatiya Maha Sanmailan. After the discussion with the Central Government regarding granting ST status to the six ethnic groups , the newly formed organization welcomed the move of the Government.  The forum stated that if the Government does not take any steps regarding granting ST status to the six ethnic groups at the earliest, they would launch massive agitation.
