Six held in alleged rape charge in police custody

SHILLONG, Jan 16: The six persons arrested in charge of allegedly raping a seventeen year old girl in Mawmang under Mawryngkneg Police Station in East Khasi Hills district are now in police custody.   Peter Lawai-a Sordar, a top functiory of the Hynniewtrep Council (HYC), is now in custody. He along with his traditiol head is lodged in Shillong Civil Hospital since the time they were taken into police custody. The six accused then surrendered before the court and taken to judicial custody are now in Police custody. Top police officials confirmed that the investigation is on even as they are processing the charge sheet under POCSO. When The Sentinel asked the questioning officers, they said the young adults are likely to disclose the crime allegedly committed by them.
