Six NLFB cadres arrested

MANGALDAI, February 2: The Red Horns Division operating in the parts of Darrang and Udalguri arrested six hardcore cadres of the newly-formed outfit of tiol Liberation Front of Bengalis (NLFB) recently.

 The arrest was made after a late night combined operation by Army Camp based at Chapai, Borrengajuli and Deomori assisted by  the joint teams SDPO Bhergaon and police representatives from Khoirabari and Dimakuchi police stations. Insurgent groups in Darrang and Udalguri have been exploiting the diversity in population and the porous security loopholes prevailing in the district and extorting the innocent populace.

Army Camp Borrengajuli has been proactive in controlling the spread of insurgency by apprehending and neutralizing the underground workers and cadres in Darrang and Udalguri districts  by relentless operations.  Intelligence inputs received from sources about the presence of a new insurgent outfit, NLFB, being actively involved in killing and several extortion activities across Darrang and Udalguri districts. Intelligence inputs also revealed about their connection with several militant outfits based at Dimapur like NSCN (IM), NSCN (K) and NDFB(S).

Arms peddlers were spotted in village Kacharidag. Further hard intelligence input from sources revealed some secret information about arms trade in village Kacharidag, Koimari, Devchunga and No 1 Rajgarh.  Army team recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from the possession of the apprehended cadres.  The recovery included three 7.65mm factory-made pistols, three country made rifles, one revolver and 48 rounds of live ammunition.
